Joseph RIPPER

Line in Record @I223@ (RIN 282544) from GEDCOM file not recognized:
OCCU a farmer and a miller

Upon Joseph's death, Letters of Administration were proven on 11 Jan 1865 (prob. reg.) in favour of Susannah Ripper (widow) in a sum of less than £200.

Susan RIPPER

Upon the entry of her burial Susan is shown as being from Sewrath.

Elizabeth RIPPER

In the 1881 census Elizabeth is described as aged 49, unmarried  and living as the patient of Annie P. Williams in Kenwyn.

James RIPPER

James witnessed his sister, Ann's marriage in 1851.

In the 1881 census James is recorded in Christchurch in Monmouthshire - aged 52, commercial traveller, living in the lodgings of John Bayliss.

Thomas CORNISH

Thomas is recorded as being "of Penryn" at the time of his marriage.

Phillip RIPPER

Line in Record @I226@ (RIN 282547) from GEDCOM file not recognized:
OCCU a farmer

Phillip's marriage was witnessed by James Richard and John Ripper (most probably Phillip's elder brother).

In the 1871 census of the Parish of Cubert; District 5; Schedule 014:
Ripper, Philip; Head; Married; aged 75; Farmer; born in Breage, Cornwall
Ripper, Mary; Wife; Married; aged 62; ; born in Cubert, Cornwall

James REPPER

Line in Record @I229@ (RIN 282550) from GEDCOM file not recognized:
OCCU a miner

Much of this family has been confirmed from the family bible shown in the last generation.

James is shown as a miner and as James of Tregenno at the baptism of his children.

Elizabeth EDWARDS

The burial recorded in the bible has been attributed to this Elizabeth rather than her daughter on the basis that the family would have progressed further had the mother been alive. At her burial she is recorded in the registers as Elizabeth of Tregunnas.

Elizabeth REPPER

Elizabeth seems not to have married. It is possible that the burial recorded in the bible is not her mother but this Elizabeth.

James Edward REPPER

In the 1841 census in Redruth there is a John Repper living with his wife Grace and their child James Edward (4). Also living with them are William Williams (15) and Susan Williams (9).

In 1915 a Charles Ripper died in Yeovil, leaving his estate to a private Harry Battrick of the cavalry.  At the time of making this entry (11/09/1995) this is the only Charles I know of who could qualify for this entry.  His occupation is given as a grocer.  His baptism was one of five all done at the same time in Cubert Church.

Mary Caroline RIPPER

One of five children all baptised at the same time, probably born much earlier.

In the 1891 census Joseph is a lodger at 10, Goonlaze, St Agnes, Cornwall. His age is given as 71 and he is described as an employed carpenter. The family with whom he lodged was Thomas Buscombe and his wife and children. Martha Buscombe was born in Perranzabuloe.

In 1896 a Joseph Ripper dies aged 78, most probably this one, registered in Truro district.

Grace

Grace is recorded at home on 1881 census, with her family - she was aged 56.

John REPPER

His parents had another John baptised in the same place 3 years later, this John has therefore been presumed to have died young.

John has not been found on the 1881 census. There is a John Ripper (not Repper) aged 25 in 1881 who is stationed on HMS Agincourt and gives his birthplace as Devonport. This could be the same John and the detail provided by a shipmate being
incorrect.
