Convicted 27 March 1815 for stealing sheep, transported for life arriving in Port Jackson in New South Wales on the "Ocean 1" in 1816.

"I see from (Claim a Convict) that you have an interest in Francis Bassett.

He is my 4th cousin six times removed, but I guess you may have a closer relationship than that. For many years I have been accumulating information on the Ripper family tree and all its offspring. Francis gt gt gt gt grandfather is also on my direct line, being my 9th gt grandfather.

If you are a descendant of Francis then you also one of my distant cousins and I would very much like to add any know descendants of Francis to the rest of his family tree.
If you can help, please get in touch."

Ann married William Bassatt. The Bassatt family included a branch which were were a land owning, monied family well known in Cornish history.

Indeed, recorded in a box of Cornish families on the top floor of the SoG is a reference to the London Gazette of May 12-16th 1767; this is a reference to bankruptcy proceedings which involved some land near Endellion, St Austell in Cornwall which had been owned by Ann Basset, widow, deceased.

I do not believe that this family and the Bassatt family into which Ann married are the same as the enobled Bassatts but further research is required to determine Ann's life after marriage.
