Mead Woodson Tipton, Eminence Rt., Garden City, died September 10 1960, of cancer in St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, after a long illness. He was born May 16, 1874 at West Point, Missouri and came to Lakin in 1885. He married Nellie Cochran, May 16 1900, at Lakin. Where he was a Blacksmith for some 50 years. He was a member of the Christian Church and Woodman of the world.

    He moved to Garden City in 1948, Survivors are the widow of the home; one son Vernon Edward Tipton, Garden City; a daughter Mrs. Jessie Elvira Buckridge, of Eugene, Oregon, Two brothers Campbell Tipton of Altadena, California and Author Tipton, Mexico; Five grandchildren and three great grandchlidren. funeral was in the Garand Chapel with Rev. A. Flamming officiation, Burial was in Lakin Cemetery, Lakin City, Kansas.

Nellie Madison COCKRAN

Nellie Madison Tipton of Eminence Rt., Garden city, died at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City. Thursday noon after fracture a hip. Mrs. Tipton was born, November 25, 1877, in Modale, Indiana. She married Mead Tipton May 16 1900 in Lakin. He preceded her in death in September of this year. Mrs. tipton had lived in Garden city for the past 20 years and she was a member of the first Christian Church.

    Survivors include one son Vernon Edward Tipton of Garden City; one daughter Mrs. Jessie Buckridge of Eugene, Oregon, one brother R. G. Cochan of Washington; two sisters, Mrs Ada McCristal of Ortario, California, and Mrs. Enda Bolling of Taylor, Texas, Five grandchildren and three great grand children.
