Alfred MIllard HATCHER

Obituary of Alfred Millard Hatcher, newspaper unknown:
Funeral services were held at Milan, Tenn., Friday for A M Hatcher, well known former Bristolian.     The Milan newspaper published the following notice of the death:     Mr Hatcher was born in Sullivan County near Bristol, Tenn., April 16, 1866. He spent the greater part of his life in Bristol, where he was in business for a number of years. He was later a salesman for the American Powder Mills and was associated with the Winchester Rifle Co., both as a salesman and in the field of rifle demonstration. Mr Hatcher was unusually skilled in marksmanship and twice had won the Virginia state championship in the trapshooting tournaments. His trophies in many contests had been a source of pride to him throughout the years. In 1927 Mr Hatcher came to Milan to make his home, and during these twenty years had established strong ties of friendship through his business interests while associated with Veazey Hardware Co., and through the sports loving men of this town and neighboring communities. His character in its strength of purpose, in courage of his convictions, in his steadfast and constant adherence to principles, attracted and held scores of friends. A devoted father and husband, Mr Hatcher continued his life of honor and simplicity in the daily routine of work and healthful recreation. His unusual love for his sons and daughters-in-law, were characteristics marked by his everyday thoughts and conversations. The eighty years of his life had been marked by a true conception of the better things in the eternal verities of life. Mr Hatcher was a member of the Central Christian Church of Bristol, Tenn. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Lena Mills Hatcher, and two sons.
