Ruth Emily Underwood, married twice, her first husband served with the Underwood brother's in the 109th IL. Mrs. Ruth Stones obituary as printed in The Anna Democrat, Friday December 5, 1930 ... Mrs Ruth Stone, wife of George Stone, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Cal Wilson, near Wolf Lake. "Aunt Ruth" as she was familiarly known by all, had spent all her life among the hills of Alto Pass. Last June she celebrated her 84th birthday in a double birthday celebration given in honor of her and Mrs. Lucinda Doughty, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfred Doughty. This had been an annual custom for the past 30 years, to honor her and her lifelong friend as they journeyed down the path of life. She, with her husband both becoming feeble from age, gave up their old home and went to live with their children. Her going marks the passing of another dear old pioneer mother. Funeral services were conducted from the Beech Grove Church, burial in the cemetery nearby. Sweet be her rest, watched over by the rock bound hills that she had loved so long. She is survived by her aged husband and the following children, Ms Mattie Pender, Ms Emma Wilson, Ms Roy Carter and Ms William Stone, a daughter by a former marriage.
Ruth E. GORE v. James B. GORE, granted 11 Sep 1875 (Circuit Court Book N pp 258, 276, 277).
