Mary Ermelia BIELBY

The bap., End., and sealing date cannot be correct as they are on my
records.  It says she was baptized before she was born and endowned at age 4
and sealed at age 4.  Need to be checked out.

Walter K. UNDERWOOD

Walter K Underwood, farmer, born in Tennessee 11-20-1841 the youngest son of Jesse and Mary Ledbetter Underwood.  Received his education in Union Co., and was the son of a Baptist minister.

Recorded and filed Union CO Fed 2 1863

Walter married Phobe Caroline Nipper, February 1, 1863.

Walter and Caroline Phobe suffered the lost of 5 sons they all died as infants or toddlers.  Walter met with a serious accident and lost his right hand, in a machinery accident at a saw mill.  In spite of all the setbacks to the family they did raise five children.

Walter was a democrat in politics, and a member of I.O.O.F., of Alto Pass Lodge.

Caroline was born in Tennessee to James and Mary Ann (Smith) Nipper.  Je was a farmer, raising strawberries and rasberries.  Was in Alto Pass, Union Co., IL, member of the Ridge Baptist Church.
