3/31/2005Yes, I have more information with dates, etc., Sarah June Kinder was Melvin Hiatt's second wife and she divorced Melvin and married Stanton. Stanton adopted Sandy and Harbor Hiatt. yes, I am Carolyn Joy Hiatt and I am the 2nd great grand daughter of J. B. Strausser. I will send you a copy of the Kindhsip fo J. B. Strauser, his relation to names I have in my genealgy. I copied my genealogy onto a disk but could nto separate the Strausser information I have from the Grosh. (Grosch is my mother's side of the family.) Maybe you can pull all the Strausser relations from the disk. I also have lots of pictures to send you but I need your mailing address. Thanks

IRENE WANTED TO BE WITH HER MOTHER WHEN SHE DELIVERED THE
BABY (NOT KNOWING SHE WAS GOING TO HAVE TWINS) SO SHE WENT BACK TO BARTLEY TO STAY WITH FRIEDA. ERVIN WAS THE ONLY ONE AT HOME YET. SHE WAS 5'9" - TALLER THAN THE OTHER SISTERS BUT WAS HUGH WITH 16 AND ONE HALF POUNDS OF BABIES (CARROL 8 LBS - CAROLYN 8 1/2 LBS).THE TWINS WERE BORN AT HOME IN THE MIDDLE BEDROOM AND WHEN
IRENE WASN'T DOING WELL AFTER THE BIRTH OF THE TWINS, FRIEDA CALLED DR. MINNICH IN CAMBRIDGE AND HE CAME OUT. SOMEONE SAID THE DOCTOR THAT FINALLY DID COME HAD SEVERAL FINGERS MISSING ON HIS HANDS. FRIEDA TOLD CAROLYN IRENE DIED FROM A BROKEN HEART ALTHOUGH THE DEATH CERTIFICATE SAID BLOOD POISON. IRENE
DIED 22 DAYS AFTER THE TWINS WERE BORN.IRENE TOLD FRIEDA SHE WANTED HER TO RAISE THE TWINS BEFORE SHE DIED. THE DOCTOR TOLD FRIEDA SHE WAS TOO OLD (60 YEARS OLD) BUT
SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO DO IT. GOTTLIEB WAS IN TOWN AND GERT
LIVED JUST NORTH OF TOWN, CLOSE ENOUGH TO HELP. ALSO THE KLEESICK TWINS (TILLIE & LILLIE) LIVED RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET AND THEY HELPED FRIEDA.FRIEDA TOOK THE TWINS TO CALIF. ON THE TRAIN WHEN THEY WERE 3 YEARS OLD. SHE HAD A BIRTH ON THE TRAIN AND IT TOOK 2 NIGHTS AND ONE DAY TO GET TO LOS ANGELES, CALIF. SHE WAS AT BRUNO'S IN SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. WHEN SHE LET THE TWINS PLAY IN THE POOL.
WHEN IT CAME TIME TO GET OUT CAROLYN DIDN'T GET OUT AND BEING A REDHEAD ENDED UP WITH HUGH BLISTERS ON HER SHOULDERS. THAT
WAS THE FIRST OF MANY, MANY SUNBURNS.FRIEDA WAS TOO SICK TO CARE FOR THE TWINS IN 1945 SO SHE PUT THEM IN THE LUTHERAN CHILDRENS HOME IN FREMONT, NEBR. FOR A YEAR AND HALF. THE TWINS SPENT THE SUMMER MONTHS AT "MOM" AND "DAD" BOWER'S FARM OUTSIDE OF FREMONT.
(OBITUARY) IRENE FLORENCE CLOUSE WAS BORN MARCH 14, 1916, AT BARTLEY, NEBR., AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE APRIL 30, 1938, AT THE AGE OF 22 YEARS, 1 MONTH AND 16 DAYS.
SHE WAS A GRADUATE OF THE BARTLEY HIGH SCHOOL, GRADUATING WITH THE CLASS OF 1935. ON MAY 29, 1935 SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MR. MELVIN HIATT OF CAMBRIDGE, NEBR., AND TO THIS UNION THREE CHILDREN WERE BORN, JACQUELINE JEAN AND THE TWINS, CAROLL AND CAROLINE.
BESIDES HER THREE BABIES SHE LEAVES TO MOURN HER LOSS, HER HUSBAND, MR. MELVIN HIATT, HER MOTHER, MRS. FRIEDA CLOUSE, THREE SISTERS, MRS. LAWRENCE BROWN OF CAMBRIDGE, MARGARET CLOUSE OF PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, AND THERESA CLOUSE OF LINCOLN; THREE BROTHERS, BRUNO OF OILDALE, CALIFORNIA, GOTTLIEB AND ERVIN OF BARTLEY, AND MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
SHE ACCEPTED CHRIST AS HER SAVIOR IN THE CHURCH OF CHRIST IN BARTLEY AND HER MEMBERSHIP WAS IN THE BARTLEY CHURCH AT THE TIME OF HER DEATH.
THE YEARS MAY PASS WITH A MILLION FLEETING THOUGHTS BUT EVER IN OUR HEARTS SHALL LIVE AND GROW THE PRECIOUS MEMORY OF HER WE LOVED.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON OF THIS WEEK AT THE CHURCH OF CHRIST, CONDUCTED BY THE PASTOR, MR. HOLVERSON. INTERMENT WAS MADE IN THE LOCAL CEMETERY.
CARD OF THANKS: WE WISH TO EXPRESS OUR SINCERE THANKS AND APPRECIATION FOR THE MANY WAYS IN WHICH ALL EXPRESSED THEIR SYMPATHY AT THE TIME OF THE LOSS OF OUR LOVED ONE. MRS. MRS. HIATT GAVE BIRTH TO TWIN BABIES, A SON AND A DAUGHTER, ON APRIL 7, AND WAS APPARENTLY WELL ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY. HOWEVER, UNKNOWN TO HERSELF, OR RELATIVES, INFECTION WAS SPREADING THROUGHOUT HER BODY, AND ALTHOUGH UNTIL THE LAST EVERY EFFORT WAS MADE TO SAVE HER, SHE FAILED TO SURVIVE THE RAVAGES OF DISEASE.
DEATH NATURALLY BRINGS SADNESS TO ALL CONCERNED BUT IN THE CASE OF THIS YOUTHFUL MOTHER AND FRIEND THE SYMPATHY OF THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IS EXTENDED TO THE BEREAVED.
MISS MARGARET CLOUSE OF PASADENA, CALIF., AND BRUNO CLOUSE OF BAKERSFIELD, SAME STATE, CAME IN MONDAY EVENING, BEING CALLED HERE BY THE DEATH OF THEIR SISTER, MRS. IRENE HIATT.

OBITUARY - Sarah June Stanton passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 4, 1998 at the age of 80. She was born in Cambridge, NE on June 17, 1917 to Elsie and Nora Yingling Kinder. June was united in marriage to Donald J. "Tuffy" Stanton on August 22, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1990.
June worked in the laundry department of the old Minnick Hospital and later at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Cambridge, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, an infant brother and Maynard "Pinkie" Kinder, one sister Cleon Karash and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter Sandra and husband Mike of Westminister, CO; two sons, Harbor E. and wife Linda of Cooper Center, AK: Richard D. and wife Claudia of Cambridge, fourteen grandchildren, one sister, Velma Leech of Hastings, and one brother Donald "Doc" Kinder of Sweet Home, OR.
Funeral services were held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge on Saturday, February 7, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. with Johnny Walker officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge, NE. Memorials may be left to the Calvary Baptist Church in June's name.
