Glen Bird NEWMAN

Glen Newman4/11/19 ~ 9/22/03 Glen Bird Newman, 84, of Pleasant Grove passed away Monday, September 22, 2003. He was born April 11, 1919 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Claude Bird and Ivy Clara Radmall Newman. He married Marian Charlotte Greening on December 18, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.Glen grew up in Pleasant Grove and attended school there. Glen's mother passed away when he was four years old; and he was raised by his father and older sister, Clarice. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Upon his return from military service, he drove truck for P.I.E. and later joined the Pleasant Grove Police Force. He served 17 years as the Chief of Police for Pleasant Grove City and organized the Auxiliary Police Force. Glen started the Little League baseball program in Pleasant Grove, and eventually formed leagues for older boys. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and riding horses; and in later years, golfing with his friends. He and Marian enjoyed their winters in St. George before her death in 2002. He is survived by five children: Lynn (Karen) Newman, Sharron Newman, Harold K. Newman, Charlotte (Herb) Gilbert, Rick (Peggy) Newman, all of Pleasant Grove; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his brother, Grant Dee (Sandra) Newman, American Fork. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 26, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, 942 North 500 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

Marian Newman
Marian C. Newman, 79, of Pleasant Grove passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at American Fork Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born October 15, 1922 in American Fork, Utah to William F. and Emma Binch Greening. She married Glen B. Newman on December 18, 1939 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on December 18, 1973. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. She grew up in American Fork and attended schools there. Marian raised her family in Pleasant Grove and worked at both Ideal Market and the Bank of Pleasant Grove. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions during her life. Her life was her devotion to her family. They will remember her excellent cooking and crocheting items for family, friends, and neighbors. She is survived by her husband Glen of Pleasant Grove; five children: Lynn (Karen) Newman; Sharron Newman; Harold Newman; Charlotte (Herb) Gilbert; Rick (Peggy) Newman all of Pleasant Grove; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include her brothers Ellis Greening and Arlan Greening, both of Orem; Don Greening and Dale Greening, both of American Fork; and her sister, Ila Kelson of West Valley City. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, 2002 in the new Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, Pleasant Grove. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.
