Was a tenant farmer at Eldora, Surry,NC in 1860.....He volunteered 5 Jun 1861 when he was 52, the second oldest man to enter service from Surry. He died a little over two months later 26 Aug 11861, place and cause not reported. Two of his sons joined the service with him....William who died two weeks after his father and Killis who survived....
