Spencer Leavitt Taylor
AMERICAN FORK, Utah - Spencer Taylor, 66, of American Fork, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2008.
Spencer was born August 17, 1942, in Tremonton, Utah, to Leavitt W. and Blanche Jensen Taylor.
He married Wanda Janet Larsen on August 19, 1966, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Spencer grew up on a ranch in Arimo, Idaho, and graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1960. He served a two and a half year LDS mission to Sweden from 1961-'64. He attended Utah State University and graduated with a degree in business management. He worked in the banking industry in California and Idaho.
The family later moved to Sanpete County, where Spencer worked in the Valley Camp Coal Mine in Scofield. He became a certified EMT and coordinated the EMT classes at Snow College. He was also a volunteer for the ambulance in Fairview for several years. He finished his career working for the state at the Utah State Prison and later at the Utah State Developmental Center.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and especially enjoyed callings involving teaching. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed to hunt and fish in the mountains of Idaho.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of American Fork, Utah; six children, Bruce (Juliet) Taylor, Cindy Taylor, Toby (Kerrie) Taylor, Bryan (Mindy) Taylor, all of Lehi, Utah, Jeremiah Taylor and Karrie (Josh) Potter, both of American Fork; 12 grandchildren; sister, Jane (Kelly) Watts, Santiago, Chile. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kylie Ann Taylor, his parents, brother, Gary, and sister, Glee.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the American Fork East Stake Center, 825 East 500 North, American Fork, Utah. Friends may call for a viewing Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
