Preston EDMONDS

On 27 Feb 1873 when Preston was 19, he first married Tempy Jane HANCOCK, 11941, daughter of John HANCOCK, 9910 (1824-1897) & Mary Louise JOYCE, 11938 (1827-1913), in Dobson Township, Surry County, NC. Born in 1852 in Patrick Co.,Va. Tempy Jane died in Surry Co.,NC  ca 1888, she was 36.

On 25 Feb 1889 when Preston was 35, he second married America CALLAHAN, 15767, daughter of Hugh CALLAHAN, 15768 & Martha HILL, 15769, in Dobson Township, Surry County, NC. Born in Jun 1854 in Surry Co, NC. America died in Dobson Township, Surry County, NC on 3 Dec 1922, she was 68.

"The cabin in which Robert and Elizabeth built and raised their family was still intact in late 1980's. It was located off the Westfield-Pilot Mtn. highway on Chinquapin Creek, which feeds into the Larger Tom's Creek. The old Hill cabin has been an object of much research by the Surry Co Historical Society."
