Mr. Hiett was a Confederate soldier, an uncommissioned officer of Company K., Colonel Imboden's Cavalry. John H. Pyles Captain and in this Company were many men from North River and Capon. Mr. Hiett was a farmer and stock raiser. He lived on the same farm on which he was born.
Mr. Hiett lived to the age of 93. Mrs. Hiett passed from the earth several years before him. They lie in the same plat with Holmes in the Old Salem Cem. These families were Presbyterians and Democrats.
