Millicent Wilson
Millicent Wilson of Orcutt passed away on June 23, 2001, at her home on Stansbury Dr. among family and friends. She was 73 years old.
A wife, mother of six, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of two, Millie was also an active and revered member of the community at large. Arriving in Orcutt in 1964, Millie and her husband, Gale, opened W&W Hardware and remained a fixture at Union and Pacific for more than 25 years.
Millie was a lifelong advocate for children and spent many years teaching drama and ballet at May Grisham school, responsible for countless productions. Her life's passions, including music, dance, gardening, reading, and her husband, Gale, truly embodied her spirit of strength, wonder and service to others. She was possessed with an eternal "can-do" attitude and her own impeccability had an often infectious effect on many souls around her. Millie wore numerous hats throughout her life - businesswoman, speedboat driver, director, matriarch, nana - and was an eternal student of life.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 27, at 757 Stansbury Dr., Friends and well-wishers are welcome to join her family for an afternoon tea in Gale and Millie's garden. Friends of Millie are encouraged to make a donation in her name to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary.
