3. Recorded baptism date of 1645 of infant Jon Whyt in Sterling, Kilsethnear Edinburgh, a port in Scotland.
4. Listed as a student or altar boy in 1653 in Stirling, Kilseth.
5. From Witt's End Vol. 1, Issue 1 by Wayne Witt Bates: The name JohnWitt appears in a 20 November 1659 record that gives the information that"John Witt of Ross Wye. Herefordshire, England is bound to serve JohnBraine, mariner" destination Bristol (probably Bristol Parish in theBarbadoes).
6. Before 1699 when treasury rights were instated, land was deeded in theform of head bounties granted to people who brought new immigrants to thecolonies. One of these individuals who obtained land by bringing insettlers was Captain William Randolph. A relative of Thomas Jefferson,Randolph amassed a huge estate known as Tuckahoe. Randolph and otherslike him to obtain more land often made several patents claiming the sameindividual. One of the individuals claimed several times was John Witt.The first patent that John Witt was included in was for 623 acres inCharles City County, Virginia. It was for land on the south side of theAppomattox River, beginning at Hugh Lee's, to the Great Meadow, up theswamp, and was dated November 20, 1689. Another, submitted by Thomas CockSr., was for 816 acres in Henrico County on the south side of theChickahominy. This was dated October 20, 1689. John Witt is found inanother claim of William Randolph's recorded on October 25, 1695. Thiswas for 2,926 acres in Charles City County, Virginia.
7. Brothers John and William Witt obtained 300 acres in Henrico County,Virginia from Charles and Mary Hudson on September 14, 1715.
