He married firstMargaret Wilhelm (born 1742 unknown location) May 4, 1762 in SussexCo., New Jersy. Eleven children have been found. Margaret died May 19,1787 in Warren Co., New Jersy. Joseph died October 19, 1798 also inWarren Co. Both are buried in the churchyard of the First PresbyterianChurch of Oxford at Hazen, White Township, 1.5 miles southeast of thetown of Belvidere. Margaret died when the youngest child, Sarah wasabout two and a half years old. According to DAR records Josephmarried secondly Rachel Hendershot. His will was recorded October 30,1798. Joseph of Oxford Township, Sussex Co., New Jersy, AdministratorsJohn Mackey and Joseph Mackey Jr., Fellowbondsman John Summers andJohn Van Dever all of said County. Inventory made October 31, 1798, L902. 7.6. made by John Summers and Andrew Neigh. Fellowbondsman-Balser Carpenter, of said Co. (MichaelRoseburry was his sister Margaret's husband). Joseph served in theRevolutionary War in the First Company, First Regiment of SussexCounty. He was commissioned Second Leut. July 25, 1775 and wascommissioned Captain June 6, 1777. He fought in the Battle of Trenton.His residence at the time was Oxford Township, Sussex County.
