He was graduated from Ohio State University in 1916. Spent fourteen months in U.S. Army, 6th Field Artillery, 1st Div. A.E.F. during and after World War I, teaching at Rausbach, Germany, occupational troops. He studied at the University of Toulouse, France with the Army of Occupation. Returning to the U.S.A. he again studied and taught at Ohio State University. In 1923 he received his Master's Degree, then in 1926 - 1927 studied a year at the London Shool of Economics, University of London. Returning to Ohio State University he received his Ph.D. in 1930 and has continued teaching there to the present time (1955).

She attended Lake Erie College for Women one year, then Oberlin College, where she graduated in 1918. She taught in the Marion, Ohio, Public Schools up to the time she was married. When she and her husband were in England in 1926 she studied in the University of London.

He taught school for one year, then attended Ohio Wesleyan University, after which he spent several years in various parts of the West, finally settling on a ranch near Moorcroft, Wyoming. Later he returned to Ohio to take charge of his father's farm near LaRue where he now resides (1955).
