“Minnie M. Hiatt graduated from Carthage, Missouri High School, Class of 1900. Taught school of a number of years, member of Methodist Church. Also belonged to several literary clubs.  Active in Red Cross work." ”  (R17).

“Homer L. Stanley (Sr.)  -  was educated in rural and Carthage schools; very active member of Methodist church, Totally Club, active in support of YMCA and all community projects; began work in the lumber yard October 1901 - now is owner of it, name changed to The Stanley Lumber Co.,” (R163).
