Henry Jefferson and his descendants dropped the name Doffelmyre and use the name Hortt.
Esther Layton says according to a letter she recd from Emma Dille this John is the one that went from NJ with his 2nd wife, Marcy, and his children David and Ichabod to the Isle of Jamaica and took up land. Later going to NC where John died. His family went to NJ but David and Ichabod both returned to NU form Jamaica.
William Wallace Dille in his account of the family assumes that these are the original to come to America and that John Dille ,who came to NJ in 1668 was not this line. All the Dilles that we find in any part of American Colonies in the early times, seem to be descendants of George Dille. William Wallace Dille through the Dilles were Scotch but he was wrong there. There is no such name as Dille Found in the Scotch records as early as 1635. They are, however, in Bedfordshire, Eng. in large numbers. the record from NJ said "The Dilley or Dillle family came first from France to Isle of Jersey and Isle of Wight from there to London where the Bro. Richard went to Bedfordshire and George to New England. Birth records bear this out....
