In 1833, the family moved to Three Rivers, MI and in 1838, they moved to a farm in Fabius Township, MI, where John met and married Mary Bullock.
He fought in the Union Army in the Civil War and was listed in Battery "M" - 1st Michigan LightArtillery Association.
He was a member of the Protestant Methodist Church.
Died of dropsy.

BIOGRAPHY: Settled in Three Rivers, St. Joseph County, MI in 1833. Helped build the first flour mill in Three Rivers and worked in that mill until 1836 when Emery Mill was built. He then worked at that mill for 12 years and worked one winter at Hoffman Mill.
LAND: Bought land 5 miles from Three Rivers, which became his farm home. He was Supervisorfor 14 years.
