Fred Hill HENDERSON

The date of Fred's Obituary was not reported, however it read as follows; Fred Bill Henderson, an executive of Crystral Springs Bleachery here and former Chickamunga's Mayor, died unexpectedly at his home here Sunday night. A native of Chickamunga, Mr. Henderson has been associated woth the bleachery for 52 years. He served several terms as mayor and as chairman of the City School Board. He has been a leader in all phases of civic developement and community work, and has been particular interested in beuatification of the city's public grounds. Mr. Henderson was the son of the late Joseph Eugene and Martha Dunagan Henderson, pioneers north Georgia settlers. He was educated in the Catoosa County Georgia schools and North Georgia College at Dahlonega. A long-time member of the Chickamauga Presbyterian Church, Mr. Henderson was at the time of his death an elder and clerk of the session. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Ruth Home Henderson; a daughter, Mrs. James Jackson Hill Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Henderson Wyatt and Mrs. John G. Elder; a brother J. Frank Henderson, Sr., a grandaughter, Ruth Lee Hill, and a grandson, James Jackson Hill, III, all of Chickamauga and several neices and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Chickamunga Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William S. Sistar officiating. The body will be at the residence until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Chickamauga Cemetery.

Robert, wife Ema and family are residents of Ouachita Co., AR. (D 191-7) at the time of the 1900 census. The family was not located in the 1910 AR. census.
