Miles David "Milz" Taylor, 77, of Coltman, Idaho died Saturday, January 14, 2006 in Idaho Falls after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Miles was born April 3, 1928 in Grant, Idaho the son of William Pleasant Taylor and Florence Alfa Sergent Taylor. He attended schools in Ucon, Idaho including Ucon Elementary. He moved with his family to Mesa, Arizona and was there during his sophomore and Junior years until there returned to Ucon High School to graduate with his Senior Class. He attended Brigham Young University for two years following High School. He married JoAnn H. Kossman in Coltman, Idaho on October 22, 1950. He raised his family and farmed in the Coltman area. For a year and one half he worked for Bectel at the site, but returned to farming. He was a member and served as Director for the Harrison Canal Board. In 1981 he was awarded the grower of the year from Ashton to Grace from Coors Barley Company. For seventeen years he and his wife spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona and St.George, Utah. He was a pilot who maintained and flew his own small plane. He was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife; JoAnn Taylor of Coltman, Idaho and two daughters; Susie (Craig) Landon of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Denice Stevens of Lincoln, Idaho. Two sisters; Beaverly (Don) Burtenshaw of Terreton, Idaho and LaDawn Lott of Idaho Falls, Idaho. One brother; Bud Taylor of Kingman, Arizona. Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jill and two brothers; Owen and Hal. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coltman Ward Chapel with Bishop Larry Clayton officiating. There will be a visitation for friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday prior to services at the Coltman Ward Chapel from 12:00 noon to 12:50.
Jo Ann Hazel Taylor, 80, of Coltman, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at her home in Coltman, Idaho.
She was born to James Monroe Kossman and Edith Kossman in Sublet, Idaho, near Albion. She spent her early years on the ranch in Sublet. She loved the ranch and spent hours with her dad on the back of her horse, "Dinky," herding cows and sheep and playing with her dog. She learned to cook on a wood stove with her mother, and when the crops were ready to harvest, they had many farmhands for whom they cooked three meals a day.
She graduated from Twin Falls High School because there was no high school in Sublet. Several years later, the family moved from the ranch to Mackay to run the store and post office.
She was working in the store when she met Miles Taylor where he and his brother had a small farm. After a short courtship, she and Miles married in Idaho Falls on Oct. 22, 1950. They soon moved to the farm in Idaho Falls, where they farmed and had three daughters. They farmed for over 50 years.
She was a good Christian woman who was a good wife, mother and grandmother. She liked to garden and plant flowers. She also canned vegetables, which everyone thought was great. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susie Landon and Denice Steven, both of Idaho Falls; sister, Rae Jean Theel; grandchildren, Sam Long, Scott Long, Charlie Stevens, Michael Stevens, Misty Hult, Miles Muir and Houston Muir; seven great-grandchildren, Cameron Stevens, Gavin Long, Amelia Long, Gabriel Long, "new baby girl Long on the way," Ryder Hult and Berlyn Hult; and her two little dogs, Midge and Buttons (a.k.a. Biscuit).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles David Taylor; and her youngest daughter, Jill Taylor Muir.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm St. in Idaho Falls, with the Rev. Dennis Falasco officiating. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
