It was once associated with the Uppe r Liberty Presbyterian Church. The land was formally deeded to Union T ownship by George and Josiah Reed and Samuel Wood on July 18, 1871. I t is located on Orchard Road southeast of Sam Reed Road.
The Woods-Reed Cemetery is located on Orchard Road south of Samuel Ree d Road. It was alongside the first Presbyterian Church organized in wh at became Union County. The church was known later as the Upper Libert y Presbyterian Church. The following is taken from Beers' 1883 Histor y of Union County, Ohio, volume 2, page 191:
Perhaps one of the first burial places was at the Wood Cemetery, situa ted about one and a half miles east of Milford, on the north bank of t he Big Darby Creek. This was first established as a family and neighbo rhood burial place, where many found early and premature graves. The g ravestones here show burials to have been made as early as 1813, and i t is probable there are some graves, unmarked, which received bodies a t a much earlier date. Here rest many of the Woods, Reeds, Gabriels, G ills, Erwins and others of the noble and venerated pioneers. July 17, 1871, this piece of ground, consisting of 53 poles, owned by George an d Josiah Reed, and 53 poles owned by Samuel Wood, making 106 poles, wa s, by the above-mentioned owners, deeded to the Township Trustees, wh o have fenced it in with a good board fence, and, with their successor s to office, are by duty bound to see that the cemetery is kept fence d and carefully preserved.
The first time I saw the cemetery was in October 1984. By then the cem etery was so choked with weeds that most of the gravestones weren't vi sible. By the time I returned in September 1995 the cemetery had been cleaned up and was obviously well cared for. All the photos on this pa ge were taken on 26 April 2001 and it appeared that the cemetery was s till being cared for. However, there were a large number of broken sto nes throughout the cemetery.
The photographs on this page appear in alphabetical order regardless o f where they were found in the cemetery. At the end is a list of buria ls found in earlier indexing of the cemetery. The gravestones are eith er gone or completely unreadable now.
Issue: Laube says Elizabeth ORR died 1824 (AND was living with George and his wife with her sister Nancy in UNION Co.) and George’s son Wm probabted her estate .. and was born in 1784 but Laube also says sh e was 52 in 1819 when she sold her Licking Co property to Robert ORR, her brother.
Check Will book in Union Co 1824George, with his wife Susannah, moved from Licking Co to Union Co. (2n d county NW of Licking Co) and appears there in the 1820 census along with a son William. He is listed as "early settlers in Bownling Green Township, Licking County, OH p 377" in the History of Licking Co. book . He came from Fayette Co. Pa. with his brother Robert. There is a Lic king Co. land deed dated April 1813 showing him as buyer. We believe s on George ORR died in 1823 and had at least one son William.
George along with his brother Robert moved from Fayette Co. Pa in lat e 1804 to what is today Licking Co, Ohio. George by 1820 settled in wh at is Union Co. These statements are definitely true. I have not confi rmed reported wife Susannah, sons William (and possbile son George Jr. ) and any death dates.
Work in Union Co needed (deeds, will, probate records, etc).
In 1820 there is an older female b. before 1775 living with George plu s a female that could be a daughter or wife. It is also believe the ol der female is his George's sister Elizabeth known to be asscocited wit h him. Sister Elizabeth is reported to have been born in 1722 and die d 18 NOV 1822 in Union County, Ohio.
George was married to Susannah (surname unkown).
George and Susannah had two or three children. One of them was Willia m Orr b. btw. 1795 - 1804. Possbily another child was George ORR (Jr. ) b. about 1823 who appears in the 1850 census.

"*Researcher Notation: Records state James Orr arrived in America in 1 758. Within 2 years, he married Mary Dale, daughter of a prominent sla ve holder of Hartford and Baltimore Counties, Maryland. James and Mar y had 9 children. Of these was John Dale Orr, born in 1765 in Baltimor e County, Maryland before his father moved to Pennsylvania. John Dale Orr did not move from Pennsylvania to Ohio, but came with the rest of his family to Sand Ridge in 1798 and took land adjoining his sister, M ary Orr Davys/Davis. John Orr - After the Revolution, the son served u nder Crawford at Harmar's, St. Clair's and Crawford's Defeats. He was wounded in Crawford's disastrous defeat at the hands of the Indians i n Pennsylvania.
John Dale Orr reportedly substituted for his father James ORR, the imm igrant, in military service in the Revolutionary War.
Note: His bio by grandson U. N. Orr states definitivley that John Da le ORR did serve in the RW for his father. And has a nice descriptio n of his war record.

In 1846 he said Robert's death as "21 years ago last new year" From the Pen. file of widow Elizabeth.
Explains the confusion aobut the year of death 12/31/1834 or 1/1/1835 .
Also in Pen app says "family of about ten children."
Also from Pen app Issac Courson was the brother-in-law of Robert havin g married Jane ORR, sister of Robert wihile still living in Fayetter C o., Pa.
So Isaac would have know Robert and Elizabeth well. Attended the wedd ing supper...
The pen app and statement of Isaac Courson say that Eliz and Robert so ne 5 or 6 years after marriage move to Licking Co. but that he moved t o licking Co in 3 or 4 years moved "to the same place." Thus showin g that Isaac and Robert did not come together as most people think. I saac also mentions that E and R raised a family of 10 children.I have a wonderful deed showing Robert purchased land in what was to b ecome Bowling Green Twp, Licking Co, Ohio.

CONTENTS.
BOWLING GREEN township was organized in 1808. It is eight miles long f rom east to west, and two and a half miles wide, lying wholly within t he Refugee tract. Perry county is on the south; Muskingum on the east , Hopewell and Franklin townships on the north, and Licking on the wes t.
The Mound Builders left a few-samples of their works within its limits ; enough to indicate that it was once the home of the lost race. Ther e is a stone mound two and a half miles southeast of Linnville, of med ium size, and one earth mound near it, both being near the center of t he township, east and west. There is also a mound at Amsterdam of no v ery great--dimensions; and an earth mound on the farm of John Hamilton , adjoining Brownsville on the northeast, of oblong form, eighty-five yards in circumference at its base and fifteen feet high.
The township has no authentic Indian history, but there is plenty of e vidence that the Indians roamed freely over it in the pre-historic tim es, and probably had a more or less permanent occupancy of it. Traditi on and the general belief locate the red man on all sides of it, and w ithout doubt it was used extensively as a hunting ground by the Delawa res and other nations and tribes that once held undisputed possession here.
Agriculturally and topographically considered the township is rolling , or somewhat hilly, although it has some level or bottom lands, very fertile, particularly along the little streams which flow through it, southwardly, towards Jonathan's creek, or the Moxahala, as the Indian s called it, whose tributaries they are. It was originally well timber ed, the growth being principally oak, hickory and walnut. It is genera lly fertile, producing corn and the cereals and grass bountifully. The re is little, if any, land in the township that is not tillable. All t he rain that falls upon its surface flows into the Muskingum river thr ough the Moxahala.
The first settlement of Bowling Green township was made in 1802, at wh at is called "Little Bowling Green," about a mile south of Linnville, on a tributary of Jonathan's creek, by some frontiersmen from Western Virginia, whose names were Michael Thorn, Frederick Myers, and Henry N eff.
John Harris and Andrew Myers, also Virginians, settled herein 1803, an d William Harris, Moses Meeks, Adam and John Myers, and Charles Howar d 1804. The latter was a school-teacher by profession, and taught the first school in the township.
Those who came after 1804, were Edward Taylor, William Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Jacob Storts, Henry Alexander, John Berry, Joseph McMullin, Re v. Levi Shinn, Nathan Shipps, Elijah Nichols, George Moyer, James Clar k, Robert Orr, Landon Warfield, William Chapman, Samuel Parr, Henry Bi ckell, Alexander McClelland, Walter Roberts, John Weedman, Mr. Mervin , Willis Lake, sr.,
