Notes

Silas F or S CATLIN

Silas and Susan were included in the 1855 census, where they lived in Orange Township, Schuyler County, NY, with their children William, Jane, Ann, and Mary.  John is not mentioned.  Neither is Phoebe, so I assume she was not yet born.

William CATLIN

William died in the Battle of Wilderness during the Civil War.

W G SMITH

Mr Smith's middle initial might have been G.

Jonathan K SMITH

Jonathan might have been born as early as 1833.

Nathan S CATLIN

The marriage between Nathan and Martha is suspect in two important respects:

 *  Martha Patty Spencer is the name of Nathan's mother.
 *  The birth dates of this marriage, Nathan's second, overlap those of his first marriage.

Where did Nathan find a woman whose name was exactly that of his mother?

Was Nathan polygamous?

All of these make me wonder about the veracity of this marriage and, indeed, the very existence of a second Martha Patty Spencer.  If these were the only considerations, I would discount this marriage as apochryphal.  However, my source goes on to list 10 children of this dubious union, so I cannot ignore it.
