Notes for JOSHUA PLASKITT: Joshua was elected a member of the Baltimore City School Board, 2/28/1876 & on 12/5/1876 offered a resolution to introduce the reading of the History of Md in the schools, after a long & animated discussion was finally passed. On the 9/8/1877 he offered a resolution which was passed abolishing the book tax & on the 4/24/1883 he offered to establish the Maual Training School. He was a member of the Md legislature of 1884 & served as acting chairman of the committee on education in that body.
