John WALTER

He & Nathaniel Pope of Grayson Co., VA, migrated in 1796 to the Northwest
Territory.  John & Pope's son drove the horses and cattle overland along the
Guyandot River from VA to the Ohio River.  They settled at Paddy's Run on the
north side of the Ohio River at a Friends settlement called, Quaker Bottom.  In
1802  the Popes, Walters, and Hayworth moved north and settled in what is now
called Highland Co. OH.
