Capon Valley 1698 to 1940 by Maud Pugh. Arthur was a very intelligent young student and able debater of his day, died in young manhood from the effects of a bruise under the arm caused by a baseball in a game. He wrote a good hand, and was a lover of poetry and good literature as testified by some of his writings found in secretary's record of a community literary society, in which he took part and which has been handed down in the family.

Alexander Monroe was a surveyor. According to authroess Maud Pugh,
Alexander and Lydia later immigrated to Wirt County, W. Va.
Historical Records of Old Frederick County, Va. page 229. It is believed
that Alexander was a son of William and Hannah (Edwards) Monroe, based on the
fact that all those persons were buried together in a farm plot (now almost
