Abraham TEETER

According to a letter by a grandson of this Abraham Teeter, Daniel R.,
dated 20 Jun 1897 and addressed to his niece, this Abraham and his families
were East of the North Mountain and resided E of the Conacocheague Creek
not far from the Penn & Md. line, either Washington Co.,Md. or Franklin Co.
Penn. until 1788.  They then went to Morrison's Cove.
Morrison Cove seems to be the place most these families came from and where many died and are buried.  In 1813 many of the families left there, a few stayed in Waynesboro, Franklin Co. Penn.  Susanna Burger M. Abraham, is then mentioned as dying in Jefferson Co., Ia. in 1865.
Abraham prob. died still in Penn. as his son, John S. died in Monroe
Twp., Bedford Co. Penn.
A M. Dietrick, a farmer, settled in Dixon, Ill. from Penn. in 1854 Nelson Twp., section 32.
According to family tradition, Teeter came from Dietrick, and shortened to Deeter about the time of the Rev. War.  This became Teeter, altho some families may have retained the Dietrick.  This family apparantly came to America about 1715 on Wm. Penn's ships from Germany.
General notes, for information that I cannot tie to exact family.

                            History of Ogle Co., 1878.
Jacob Teeter was a farmer in Grand Detour, Ogle Co., Ill. in 1872.

From Census records of Bedford Co., Penn. 1850, there are several Teetor
families who must be of this line, and a probable link to our own Jacob Teetor line, however, there is insuffucient information at this time to prove linkage or to be able to connect any of the following families.
Also, since our own Jacob and Ellen Poe, along with Mary Whetstone in the
same vicinity as these families, it is doubly supposed they are closely
connected.
In order to preserve the records for further research, I have included the findings of the 1850 census of Bedford Co., Penn. as follows:

Johannes Michael TEETER

Later, land records of Frederick Co., MD, for the year 1751 show that
(Jo)Hanes Dietrich (D-his mark) bought 94 acres; the Court Official added
"aka John Teterich."  In a Will filed in Washington Co., MD, of David
Miller, written 20 Jan 1785, it states that Abraham Teeter, son of  JOHN,
and Elder John Bowman are to be the executors of his estate.  This Will
was recorded 12 Feb 1785.  This information agrees with Daniel Burger
Teeter's recollections regarding his great grandfather and the name of the
family arriving in the British Penn Colony.  A witness to the Will, above,
was one Isaac Teeter, a probable relative of Abraham. Reference to the
arrivals of these immigrants can be found in "Pensylvania German Pioneers"
a publication of the Original Lists of Arrivals In The Port of
Philadelphia from 1727 to 1808;, Vol. 1, by Ralph Beaver Strassburger,
LLD. Ages are actual as shown on Lists, or are 16+ as required by law to
take "Oaths to the Govt" in this British Colony. Lib. Cong. Cat. Card
#66-23871. Contd Birth Source>>CGT/Aaug 1994.
