Robert Clarence Shields was killed in a construction accident when he was run over by his own truck.
Elmer Shields, a carpenter, had five houses under construction at Enid, Oklahoma when the Great Depression hit. He worked out an arrangement under which the bank repossessed four of the houses, leaving him one free and clear. He then traded that house for a farm in Barton County, Missouri and moved his family there. He returned to Enid in 1949 and resumed his work as a carpenter.
