Larry Anderson - Families and Individuals

Notes

Pleasant STANLEY

Forwarded by cousin, Del Taylor living in Arizona, this 20 April 2011

I suspect that this Daniel was the son of William Pleasant Hiatt and Hannah born in Indiana....I don't have any connection to them in my data base, but I'm sure that my friend, Larry Anderson that lives in Chubbuck, Idaho, has him in his data base...Larry was or is president of the Hiatt Organization and has written the 3rd Vol. of the Hiatt family...the first two were written/put together by Wm Perry Johnson. A lot of Larry's Hiatt family/research are from the Indiana Hiatt group....I will forward this on to him.. Del

DANIEL PLEASANT HAITT AND IDA MOON are his grand or great grand parents.  His family line went North to Virginia and settled years ago as Quakers.  Other Quaker groups jointed the church.  He has a cousin who has researched one Quaker line back to 1150 AD.  He seemed to know a lot about the Quaker groups and his ancesters.  I told him about the research you have done and all the names you have found.  He would be excited to hear from you.
Take care,
Reed

Nancy HIATT

A letter written by her Children
On July 9th in 1854, Miss Nancy Hiatt was united in marriage to Pleasant A>
Stanley.  To them were born nine children four sons and five daughters - 1) Maud
J.,  2) Elliot T. 3) Edith A. 4) Albert, 5) Mary E. 6) Rosa M. 7) James S. 8)
Lovie F. and 9) Pleasant H.
Their first home was established near Farmland, Indiana, where they
remained until 1865, when they removed with their then five children to the
northern part of Missouri, and there established their home, where they resided
five years, and where tow other children were born, but owing to the ill health
of the husband and father, they again removed to the southern part of that
state, where they again established their home in Carter Coutny near a little
town called Norwood.  It was here that two more children were born, and here on
December 11th, 1874, the husband and father was called by death, leaving her a
widow at the age of thirty-eight with nine children, the oldest ninteen years
of age and the youngest fourteen months; and here on January 19th, 1876, her
oldest daughter, Mrs. Maud J. Winchell, died.  Two years later, she, with her
children moved back to Randolph Co., Ind., where she located in Winchester in
her present home, which she has maintained for thirty-six years.  It was here
her real struggle of life began, in her effort and without financial means (the
long move having left her almost penniless), to rear and educate her children.
She never shrank from that duty.
It is from this home which she has maintained so long that we, her eight
children, Elliott T. Stanley, of Marshalltown, Iowa;  Albert Stanley, of
Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. Lovie F. Ludy, of Portland, Ind.; James S. Stanley,
Pleasant Stanley, Mrs. Edith Harbour, Mrs. Mary E. Hiatt, Mrs. Rosa M. Hunt, of
WInchester, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Sabina Lambert and Mrs. Rebecca Stanley;
two brothers, Jesse Hiatt and Eli Hiatt, forty one grandchildren, nine great
grandchildren, other relatives, her neighbors and friends, bid her a last
farewell.
   Let us emulate her character.
