Notes

Frank SUTTER

This Frank is related to the Sutter of Sutter Mill in Calif.  He had a
ranch that he lost after the gold rush as the claim jumpers took over his
ranch.  Our grandfathers use to carry freight to Calif. before the gold rush,
during which they also found gold and had a gold mine which they sold for
$30,000 and which afterwords, they said, sold for about $300,000.  This was
suppose to be around

Elsie MINAGER

Elsie's family lived around Camel, Neb.  Harald was living around Aire
about the time he met her.  They moved to Arlington, Va. and then to Shady Side
Maryland where they built a house.  They had no children.  They moved there
about the time of the depression, he worked for the government in an office.

Carl George MCATEE Sr.

S/o George McAtee and Emma King.  There was a grandparent Mud who was
related to Lincoln, this was the mother of George who was a Mud.  It was her
relationship to the Dr. Mud who was related.  It was this Dr. Mud who treated
Mr. Booth who shot Abraham Lincoln.  The father of George was Samuel McAtee and Miss Mud.
The McAtee,s claim to be cousins to Daniel Boone.
George McAtee was in the Oklahoma land rush.  He staked out a farm,
another man rode up and told him to get out or he would poison him.  George
told him the first time he felt sick he would shoot him.  That was the last
time he ever heard from the fellow.
George was a mail carrier around Hastings.  He use to put one trained horse with a wild horse on a buggy to train them.  He stood in the middle as he sorted mail.  One time a rotten board gave way and he fell through, the horses took off and he had to keep up until he was able to get control of the animals again.  His long legs allowed him to keep up until he bested the horses.

Carl MCATEE Jr.

Sent by Doris McAtee of Hastings, NE.

Carl McAtee Jr. the son of Sylvia Alexander has passed away.  He passed
away on 2 Nov 1988 and was buried on 4 Nov 1988 in Juniata, Neb.  Carl retired from the Rail-road, he had worked out of Omaha for many years.  He suffered for several years from complications of diabetes but was always pleasant and happy to have visitors.  His surviving brother, Dale, set and example of love and dedication for all of us.  Without hesitation or complaint, and always dependable, Dale cared for his aged mother and disabled brother daily.  He would be an example of Christian love and dedication to family as few I have ever met.  I hope that through this families example, my family, as well as others who knew them, will take a few lessons.
Son of Sylvia Hiatt (married Carl McAtee, divorces, she married James
Alexander.)  Sylvia married first to Carl McAtee.  Carl is a second cousin to
the Hiatt family, Ruby Hiatt married to Glenn Anderson, who was the son of
Arthur Monroe Anderson, son of George Henry.  Carl worked for the UPRR and was retired with disability, in his last days he was bedridden, blind and pretty much incapcitated.  He was a very kind and generous person and always wanted to do something for someone.  They had no children.
He lived a little west of Hastings, Neb. when he died.  His brother, Dale
is still living in the area but do not know what has happened to all their
belongings.

Marriage Notes for Carl McAtee Jr. and Beryle Edna MYERS-63976

Carl is a cousin to my line, Larry Anderson, on the Hiatt family, his mother was my grandfather's first cousin, Sylvia Hiatt McAttee Alexander.  Carl was living in Hastings Ne last I saw him, he died shortly after. Carl was over 600 pounds, he was lying on a rasied bed in a small house, I should have paid more attention but kids with me was restless. Carl was very kind, generous and so friendly, always concerned with others.  He once visited my grandmother as she told me the story, he and Berle both were at least about 600 pounds, barely could fit thru the door and when they sit on the sofa it nearly broke.  Carl gave me a collectors plate for a keepsake.  His house was a virtual museum. He had a brother Dale McAttee who was taking care of him and their mother.  Dale had an adopted son who was handicapped, no idea what happened to all the heirlooms, Baryle had died while they were in Omaha so there was no one to carry on or to pass things on to, they had a lot of valuable heirlooms as family history goes, pictures, journals, day book, autograph book with so many notes and letters from Grandma Elizabeth Penn Everyman Hiatt, I was able to get copies of most of those pages anyway.  So many stories lost, said that this line was descended from Doctor Mudd of the Abraham Lincoln fame.  Also the grandmother was a Sutter, related to Cpt. Sutter with hundreds of old pictures of the Sutter's, etc.
