OBITUARY FROM BROOKHAVEN NEWSPAPER:

Thursday, March 27, 1884

Died - On March 4th, 1884, of heart disease, Susanna Ritchey, in her 65th year.
Born in Richland District, South Carolina 1819, her mother came to Lawrence
County, Miss., and soon after their arrival her mother died, leaving her an
orphan.  Her uncle and Aunt Jacob and Susanna Hickman, took raised and trained
her.  She was married at their residence on May 25, 1836, to John B. Ritchey.
They then settled permanently in Lawrence county (now Lincoln) county,
Miss.
They joined the Baptist Church at Antioch and was baptized December 25th, 1866.
Moved their membership to Union where it is recorded that this union here is
dissolved by death.  Sister Ritchey leaves a heart-stricken husband and 9
living children, and many warm hearted friends to mourn after her.

NOTES ON OBITUARY INFORMATION;  MARRIAGE DATE WAS MORE THAN LIKELY
1835...RATHER THAN 1836, SINCE THE MARRIAGE BONDS WERE TAKEN OUT ON MAY 21,
1835...AND A CHILD HAD BEEN BORN TO SUSAN AND JOHN IN APRIL 1836.  THEY
PROBABLY DID NOT TAKE OUT THE LICENCE, WAIT ELEVEN MONTHS TO HAVE THEIR FIRST
CHILD, AND THEN ONE MONTH LATER GET MARRIED.
