Thomas TIPTON

Married and had 8 children.Ref:   St. James Parish, Baltimore County, Maryland

He signed the Oath of allegiance in Baltimore County Maryland in 1776. making all of his descendants eligible for the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution.

The "Oath of Allegiance" also called " the Patriots Oath"
" I do swear I do not hold myself bound to yield any allegiance to the King og Great Britian, his heirs or successors, and the Freedom and Independence thereof, and the Government established, against all open enemies and secrete traintorus conpiracies, and will use my utmost endeavors to disclose and make known to the Government, or some of the Judges, or justices thereof, all treasons, or traitorous conspiracies, attempts or combinations against this State, or Government thereof, which may come to my knowledge. So help me God."

There is some speculation since the Steptoe family was a very old prominent English family That Thomas and Sarah were involved in some way with the George Washington family.

John Steptoe son of Anthony Steptoe, married a rich widow Mrs. Eustice, and Anne Steptoe Sarah's sister married Samuel Washington brother of George
Washington.
George Steptoe Washington son of Samuel and Anne was mentioned in Gen
George Washington's will.

All Thomas's children are recorded in the Vestry records of St. Paul's
Parish in Baltimore Maryland. Vol. 1. P.49
