AnnMarie Chappell: Looked for some sort of Reynolds-Pickens connection and just
cannot find anything!  I am willing to drop Henry Reynolds as Milly's father
because Sharp's quoted source does not yield names and I feel that it's a
stretch to say that a witness is a child's spouse, especially without anything
else to support it.  If the only reference we have for a surname and parentage
is the 1836 Settlement, then we really have nothing, because I checked it out,

From: AnnMarie Chappel [chappell@i-link.net] Subject: Pickens research
"John William Gabriel PICKENS b. 1832 Hardin Co., TN d. 1899 Hennepin, Indian
Territory (OK). This much I have well documented. I believe JWG's father to be:
William PICKENS b. abt 1807, d. 1860-1870. Have seen research that links William
to Emily REYNOLDS (however I do not believe Emily to be JWG's mother).
   AnnMarie
-------------------------------------------------
E-Mail From Jack Reyolds to Terry McLean and AnnMarie Chappell:
"...As indicated by Sharp, we also believe JWG's father was William PICKENS,
b. abt 1807, and we know that he was living with William and wife Emily REYNOLDS
Pickens in 1850 (census) at age 18. We are also skeptical that Emily is his
mother. We have entertained a variety of possible scenarios, and we're anxious
to hear your thoughts on this. You may already be aware that there is data that
alleges that the father of JWG was James PICKENS. This information arises from a
citizenship court case against the Choctaw tribe of about 1897.
It is interesting to note that Jewell Hanna in McCurtain County accepts James'
parentage as fact. She has some documentation of this and corresponded at one
time with Rev. Sharp. There is not a Xerox within a gazillion miles of her
house, and so we have not been able to copy it yet. Ginny remembers Andrew
Jackson from her childhood and has always commented most favorably about him.
Her father knew him well and cared for him deeply. As you probably know, Sharp
says that Andrew Jackson is buried in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. We made a cursory
search at Locust Grove but did not find his grave...[interesting to find that]
he died in Artesia, NM... Maybe that's why we couldn't find him! Where is he
buried?  Where is Mollie LINDSEY buried?  I'm most anxious to see what you have
on him and the rest of his line.

siblings but the 7 were born in Mississippi or Tennessee. At one time JWG was a
Baptist preacher (or so he claimed to the census taker), so I imagine they
traveled quite a bit. The other sibling was George W. PICKENS (b. 1857) who
married Emily Britton (1878 in Hardin Co., TN)."

" Hi! I've spent the last two days at Clayton Library for Genealogical
Research (Houston)... And have read thru everything they have on Hardin Co., TN
including settlement books. Nowhere in Henry REYNOLDS stuff does it mention
Emily/Milly. Do you have any references elsewhere for Milly's last name? Will
send you copies of research in US Mail as well as to Jackson ... Went through
the entire book of Hardin Co., TN records 1820-1860. Found Henry REYNOLDS and
names of his wife and 6 children. No mention of Emily/Milly. However, William
Pickens did witness his will. At 4:15 p.m. I found the microfilm and will check
it Tuesday. Looks like Henry moved to Hardin County in 1821 (bought land on
Shoat's Creek), had grandchildren in Hardin Co. (son-in-law Redding BLOUNT died
1843), and Henry's wife, Matilda, died 1837 (sep-oct-nov). Does anybody you know
have access to the marriage books (1820's & on) for Hardin Co.? Have several new
REYNOLDS names I would like to try out. I know the film is available from LDS
but was hoping someone might have copy of books or film available....   AnnMarie

"I hope the formatting is not lost. My copy matches the look of the document.
Off the top there are three things I notice.
 1) the name Rebecca Pickens;
 2) no name of Emily or Milly;
 3) a description stating that the four named children are those "that are
married." Earlier he mentions "all my children"; then he mentions these four.
Even given that, why doesn't he mention this daughter, who supposedly married in
1832, unless Rebecca is Emily (Emily Rebecca/Rebecca Emily), and may have been
known as Milly. Surely, William and Emily were named together in 1850... . ..
Just wondering....

to James William PICKENS and William KING as her father....
Virginia Elizabeth parents were Eleazor B. CORDER and Temperance Jane REEVES.
Eleazor and Temperance were married 18 July 1859 in Pontotoc, MS.  Eleazor
joined the Confederate army and was wounded and captured and sent to Ft. Douglas
camp in Chicago,Ill and died and buried there Feb.1863.
William KING was in the same camp and he came back and married Temperance 15
March 1864 in Tippah, MS. William KING first wife had died and left him with six
children and Temperance had the one.
Virginia CORDER first married a L.L.J. ROBERTS and had a son John W. ROBERTS
and I don't know what happen to ROBERTS maybe died aft. 1880.  She remarried a ?
BROCK for one day (I wish I knew who) and then she married our James William
