NOBLE - Looking for NOBLE family descendents of South Carolina. My g-grandmother
was Rebecca Pickens NOBLE, g-grandaughter of General Andrew Pickens. Her father
was Andrew Alexander NOBLE and had large holdings in and around Willington, SC
including at one time, the noble family cemetery.

"Andrew PICKENS, Jr., Governor, SC, 1816-1818" by Wm. H. Dumont: Andrew
PICKENS, Junior, son of General Andrew PICKENS of Revolutionary War fame, was
Governor of South Carolina from December 1816 to December 1818.
While Governor, he kept a separate record of the various amounts of money he
paid out from the Governor's Contingent Fund...He required a receipt of all
sums paid out.  The receipts were recorded or pasted into a leather-bound book
...The Governor was addressed as: "His Excellency," "A. PICKENS, Jr.," and
"Col. PICKENS, Jr."  The remainder of the article is a listing of the receipts
included in the book.

THE PICKENS FAMILY (1961), by E. M. Sharp:
 p. 41. "Andrew PICKENS, Jr. served one term as Governor of South Carolina.
During the War of 1812 he was a Lt. Col. of the 10th Regt. of U.S. Regulars on
the Canadian Border. Was in command of a Regiment to defend Charleston in 1814.
Elected Governor of SC in 1816 and served 2 years, the legal limit in SC for
a Governor at the time. He was an Indian Commissioner and treated with Indians
as did his father. Bought land at Augusta Georgia and lived there a while,
later moving to Dallas County Alabama. He owned land in Edgefield Co., SC,
later the plantation of his son, F. W. PICKENS. He went on a trip to Pontotoc
County, Mississippi where he died on June 24, 1838. His body was carried back
to South Carolina and buried at the 'Old Stone Church' in Pendleton District,
SC beside his parents."
