Terry...I was glancing down through your list of Pickens and my eyes "stopped"
at the burial place of Ada Florence Pickens. All of my husband's family (Hubert)
have been buried in the Minerva Cemetery, in the Minerva Community of Milam Co.
Texas and that is where we will be buried also someday. This is now a tiny
little place between Rockdale and Cameron Texas and if you blink while passing
through, you miss it. Prior to 1900 and the when railroad came through, it was a
thriving little town.
When I mentioned Ada to my husband he informed me that Ada Pickens was married
to his grandmother's brother, Sherrod Frank Sanders. His grandmother was
Minerva Sanders Hubert and the community of Minerva was named for her...
The Milam County Cemetery Book shows both Ada Sanders and Sherrod Frank
Sanders with tombstones in the Minerva Cemetery..
Sherrod Franklin's father was Sherrod William Sanders and his mother Minerva
Duke Cone Sanders. My husband "knew Ada" but did not know Sherrod as he died
in "1929" several years before his birth. (I do not show a death certificate for
him)...
Also Ada was not the first wife of Sherrod Franklin Sanders but the second.
Since I had no information on any children, I do not know if he and Idella
Cooper had children any or not. I will be able to fill in his children now from
your information with Ada..
