Truman was a precision machinist, Tool and Diemaker, worked for Delco Remy in New Castle, In, then when the family moved to Detroit he worked for Detroit Alum. and Brass on the east side of town, and later at American Metals Products on Epworth and Linsdale. After the family moved to So. Calif he worked for Norris Thermador, designing dies to stamp out the center web of auto wheels for Ford automobiles, plus other products. Later he worked for Cherry Rivet, a company that made Power Distrubution Boxes, for Electrical Circuit breakers such as in every home. Truman had lost most of his hair by the time he was 18, and always had a weight problem, but he outlived all the doctors that kept telling him his weight would kill him. The last day of his life he had dug up a Weeping Willow tree in the front yard of the home in Sedona, that his wife was so sure the tree would damage the foundation of the home. Truman had a number of autos in his life, when in New Castle he had a 29 Essex coupe with rumble seat and Yellow wooden spoked wheels. In 1934 that was traded for a 34 Chevy that always broke rear axles, After moving to Detroit in 1935 he purchased a 36 Dodge, then a 39 Chrysler Royal 6, that would actually go 60 MPH, this is the car the family came to Calif in, towing an 18 ft. camping trailer. It took 43 tires for the trailer to get it to Calif. the tires couldn't stand the weight, and tires were not very good right after the war. The trailer was way overloaded. Then they made the mistake of going to the southern route through Douglas, AZ, which was very hilly, when a route from Lordsburg, NM goes straight west to Tucson, AZ on a state road that would have been much easier on the car and trailer. He then purchased a Yellow 49 Buick Roadmaster convertible, only to come out of work one day to find the car stolen from a fenced and guarded company parking lot, the car was never found. Then he purchased a 57 Buick and later an International Harvester Station Wagon.
