Joseph Wells grandparents were Thomas Wells and wife Frances of Princes George Co., Maryland. Thomas Wells parents were Richard Wells and Frances White of Anne Arundel Co., Maryland. Richard came to Vir. in 1637, age 17.
Around 1652-3 he transported his family to Maryland. Frances White was the daughter of Richard White and Katherine Weston, who was the daughter of Sir Richard Weston, the Earl of Hampton.
