Mr. Harold Groenendyke established his trucking company with one small truck and tank in 1932, in Beaver, Oklahoma and moved his operations to Enid, Oklahoma in 1938. From that one truck operation, this industry pioneer created what is now one of the largest tank-truck common carriers in the nation, made up of 1141 employees operating a fleet of 750 tractors and 950 trailers, some 60 millon miles annually from a net work of 42 terminals serving 48 states, Canada, and Mexico. Fifty-four years later Harold Groenendyke's personal involvement, foresight and "dogged" determination are some of the characteristics which led to him being recognized as one of the true GIANTS of the trucking industry in the United States. Mr. Groenendyke was also actively involved in ranching and spent much of his time on his ranch south-west of Watonga, Oklahoma where he raised crossbred cattle, buffalo and elk. Mr. Groenendyke graduated from Beaver High School in 1927, he then graduated from Panhandle A&M College in 1932 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Groenendyke was also a life member of the PSU Alumni Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983.
