Mark and Mary paid their steerage to the United States by playing musical instruments on the voyage. Their family was among 129 steerage passengers, 8 died of smallpox including daughter "Keri" and all were buried at sea.

Per Elizabeth Johnson in 1994, she thinks a brother of Anna's named George went back to England. But neither Charles or Anna ever went back.

Andrew and his bride, Adeline Keightley, went with Charles and Anna K. Edwards by train to Cincinnati, Ohio then by the steam boat "Sparrow Hawk" down the Ohio River. They hit a snag and took another boat to Cairo, Illinois. Then another boat up to St. Louis. then a raft up to Rip Rap (Moziers Landing) Illinois. the trip took about a week.
