Miss KRANTZMANN

In a letter from Elizabeth Sudbrack Johnson in 1994, her grandmother (Miss Krantzmann) came from Germany.
She wrote in the letter,  "The ship she (Grandma K.) came on lay off the coast for six weeks because winds died.  Food and water ran low.  A child Anna who was three years old, took a straw and would suck a little water from a barrel.  Grandma had a German bible and got a German newspaper. She spoke only broken English.  She would sit on her porch late at night and sing German songs."

Raymond M. (Jack) SUDBRACK

He was a Sergeant in the Army during WWI.
With his wife Alyce, they ran the Bellview General Store and Post Office for more than 30 years.

Arvis Jennings told me the story about one time his father and mother, Uncle Mack and Aunt Velma to me, went by that store and bought some cookies for a picnic.  When they arrived at the site and opened up the package, the cookies smelled strongly of kerosene.  They took them back and complained but Ray did not give them back their money.

Alyce L. REED

    1990, in a care home, Scottsdale, Arizona
    Son William provides care for her.

Her last several years were in the Monterey Nursing Center in Scottsdale Arizona.  Her son William provided for her.

Her funeral was conducted in Pleasant Hill at the Ward-Lummis Funeral Home on August 14, 1995.  Burial is in the Hillcrest Cemetery near Bellview.
