Married first to Mary Knight, a first cousin to Eunice Knight.  Of German
descent, also spelled Hoffstot, Houffstodt, and Hoffstott.  Listed on the 1860
and 1870 census of Dallas Co., Van Meter, Iowa.  William was 30 years old in

William stayed in Iowa and died there.  His son, Owen Alfred, by first
marriage, migrated to Crane, Mont.  He was previously in North Platte, Neb.

found no reference in any form for 1807 to 1820.
