James Melven Dannaldson (born July 17, 1915, Omaha, Nebraska, died August 12, 1984, Tarzana, California (age 69)) starred in the Frank Buck film Jacaré. Dannaldson was the son of James Jerrmiel Dannaldson and Lulu Belgium Rola Hiatt. Young James was a shot put star at Hollywood High School in 1934, when he suffered his first animal mishap. A pet rattlesnake nipped Dannaldson’s finger when he playfully stuck his thumb into the reptile’s mouth . Dannaldson was not deterred, and kept a barn filled with three rattlesnakes, five king snakes, ten turtles and one hoot owl when he was a University of Southern California student. The neighbors were not pleased.

Murdered as she was working at a candy shop in Los Angelos, Calif. That happened about 1929, my mother said that her father found this story in a detective book or magazine, wish I knew which book or magazine that was in. Mom said it was probably in "True Detective". It was so burtal that her blood was was spattered all over the walls and ceiling.
Luther was living at 2209 Q st., Omaha, Neb. in 1916. In the 1914 City directory of Omaha, Luther was working as lab, Swift & Co., living at 2711 Monroe St., Omaha, Neb.
After the death of Paula, Luther was never quite the same. He began drinking heavy and throwing away his money. He inherited two large ranches in western Neb. and invited Fred and his family to help him run them. When Fred went there with his family, Luther would take off and let him do the work and he would drink. He took up with a couple of "Hussy's", as grandma said, and gave away everything. Not much else is known of him, he went to Calif. where his sisters and brother Art were and died there.

Grandma, Goldie Teeter Hiatt, said that Paula was starting a fire in the
fireplace and threw coal oil into it, some of it spelled onto her dress, she always wore beautiful full length dresses, and caught fire. She ran outside and a passing driver stopped and threw her to the ground and roller her in his coat to put the fire out It may have been her mothers. Grandma got her dining room set, all oak and very beautiful, also a lovely bedroom set including a great big standing closet that was full of drawers and a place to hang clothes, ?Chiperal or something mom said. She had it all her life but don't know what happened to it. They had no children.. She died shortly after. After she was taken to the hospital people ran into her house and started taking things. I do not have any information on Luther, called "Toots", once they went to Calif. She died of cancer, she joined the Seventh Day Adventist and refused to go to the doctor, when it was too late she went but could not save her. Grandma Goldie told mom that she had a car and would take others places, but Grandpa Fred said that he would not let her take his kids again because she would drive like a mad man.
When she died she left everything to Luther, including a big construction company and 2 large ranches in western Nebraska, close to Colorado. He said that he would give one of them to Fred to go there to help him manage them but he went off the end and took up with 2 women, he bought them cars and fur coats, would sell truck loads of cattle to pay for them, sold everything, lost everything and went broke, Fred never got anything even after staying there for a couple of years. Mom said those gals really knew how to take him, for an old man to be such a foolish old man. He did go back to Calif. and started back with the construction business and did alright in that. He never had any children with either of his wives.
