From notes of Opal Lousin, 3 Dec 1992. The Elijah Anderson, Jr. b. 6-18-1817 who went to Lost Creek MM, Tennessee was the son of Eli, not ours. There has been a lot of supposition that these two Elijah's are one in the same and that he is the son of Elijah Sr., of my line. This is submitted to the LDS Church records but still I have never seen anything to clarify this further. It would all fit nicely but need proof more then what is just presented. There are now claims of these being the same, some of the family was in Canada. LA
Elijah Anderson b. June 18, 1817
Biography from Portrait & Biographical Album of Mahaska Co., Iowa 1887Elijah Anderson, residing on Section 27, Spring Creek Township, Was born in Clinton County, Ohio, June 18, 1817, and is a son of Eli and Mary (Thatcher) Anderson. They came t o Iowa about the year 1870, and are since deceased. Eliha Anderson resided wiht his parents unt il he was twent y-three years old, and came to Iowa in 1865, settling in White Oak Township, this county, where he remained for about sex years, removing t hence to his purchase of 115 acres of land in Spring Creek Township, where he now resides, and upon which is a good substamtial dwelling and all proper out-buildings and appurtenances necessary to the comfort and conveniences of a farm. The subject of this sketch was married in 1840 to Asenath H. Bailey, the daughter of Henry and Panima (Boswell) Bailey. Of this union there have been born eight children, named as follows; Julia A., William P., Eli, Clark, Albert, Henry T., Arthur and infnat, all deceased save Julia, Clark and Henry. The mother of tese children is also deceased. In 1879 Mr. Anderson married hte widow of Enos Doan. Her maiden name was Martha Ann Burgess, and she is a daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth (Harvey) Burgess. By her marriage with Enos Doan there wer born four children; Mary Emily (deceased), John M., Esther Ann and Enos A. Both of these familieis are of English Ancesrtry, and members of the Society of Friends, Elijah Anderson is a man who is thoroughly in earnest in the work and of moral reformation, and is a consistent and active member of the Society of Friends, belonging to the George Fox branch; his wife belongs to the aggressive body and active member of the society' yet both hope and believe they are guided by the saem spirit. Mrs. A. takes an especial interest in the success of the cause of prohibition, believeing in the Bible doctirne, so plainly taught, that men should not put in their mouths an enemy to steal away their brains. men with these advanced ideas are always the better class of citizens.
