The letter from Nancy C. Robert stated that she descended from daughter of
Robert and Elizabeth Buxton's dau. Abigail who married Josiah Hunt. However,
in about Dec. 1992 Tammy, my wife, accidently destroyed all data in our
computer and we have lost all records which we did have. As of this date, Feb.
1993, we are reorganizing and retyping all data and thus do not have all we did
before, so we are confused at this point as to Abigail, as we have at this
point a Mary married to Josiah Hunt, if the same person.
From David Anderson, 377 Cheryl Ct., White Rock, N.M. 87544
I am descended from Peter Anderson, the brother of James who married Ruth
Vickers.... includes notes:
5-12-1827 James Anderson, Sr. granted a certificate of removal to Green Plain
MM, Carks (Clark?)Co., Indiana
8-13-1828 James Anderson, Jr. granted a certificate of removal to Green Plain
MM.These two records are from Quakerism on the Eastern Shore by Kenneth
Carroll. James Sr., here, refers to James who married Ceila Wright., James
who marreid Elizabeth Brown had already died in 1791. James Jr., then, refers
to James who married Ruth Vickers on 6-29-1828. She was the daughter of
Richard and Celia Vickers who were Nicholites in Maryland. Why she is not
inlcuded in this certificate of removal, I don't know.James (married to Ceila Wright) died in 1825. So at the time of his move
to Green Plain, he was a widower.3-3-1830 ROCF NW Fork MM. James, certificate, however, is dated 8-13-29.
This may be the same James as above 8-13-1828, whose record was not received
until 3-3-1830 because of the turmoil surrounding the Green Plain MM split into
Conservative and Hicksite factions. The date on the certificate was issued from NW Fork MM on 8-13-1828. It
was dated, from Green Plain records, 8-13-1829. Since these dates only differ
by one digit, I feel there must have been an error in transacription somewhere
along the line. This is a Green Plain Hicksite MM record that Opal Lousin received from
Roger Boone. It appears to belong to James married to Ruth Vickers. The date
of hte certificate is the same month and day as that of James but the year is
different. This may simply be due to an error in transcription somewhere along
hte line. Opal speculates that his certificate was not recognized until 1830
because it was caught up in the split in the Green Plain MM into Hicksite and
Conservative factions.9-12-1827 James Anderson m. Ceila Vickers
Opal Lousin received this from the same source cited above. This must be
James who married Ceila Wright second marriage. Ceila Vickers was Richard
Vicker's widow and the mother of Ruth Vickers Anderson. Remember that Celia
Wright Anderson had died two years earlier.James Anderson, Ceila Anderson
James Anderson, Ruth Anderson
A disclaimer regarding the preaching of a certain Quaker minister appeared
in the Philanthropist, published July 14, 1841 in Cincinatti. The disclaimer
was signed by members of the Green Plain Quarterly Meeting. The names above
were listed. Again, this James and James and thier wives. I had always
assumed that the Ceila Anderson cited above was Ceila Wright Anderson, but it
could not have been. She died in 1825. In fact, this is Ceila Vickers
Anderson. I had noticed the date on the article before.12-16-1846 Celia Anderson, (wife of James) disowned
This is also a record from Opal Lousin from the same source cited earlier.
She states that there is no mention of James who, father of James who married
Ruth. She speculates that he may be the James for whom she found a death
record for in the year 1842. My cousin's (Darlene Hart) research indicates
that James who married Ceila Vickers, died in 1849, although I don't know her
sources.
The conclusion that I have arrived at is that the James Anderson shown in
my genealogy as being married to Celia Wright and the James Anderson shown in
your genealogy as being married to Ceila Vickers are both the same. I have his
first marriage recorded and you have his second marriage recorded. In the past
I have found the names Ceila and Cecillia used interchangably in these records.
perhaps, Celia wa a nickname for Cecillia. The only loose end that I can see is that you have a daughter recorded for
James and Ceila Vickers. In the margin you have the date 1828 recorded. From
a reference from Hinshaw in the text or your letter, the daughter was received
at Green Plain MM in 1828. Since James and Ceila Vickers were married just in
the year previous, 1827, this must have been an older daughter of either James
or Ceila Vickers. James and Cecillia Wright did have a daughter named Cecelia
b. 12-25-1806 and died 2-2-1897. She married Daniel Neall, Jr. on 6-21-1839.
She was the youngest of the six children of James and Ceila Wright. Whether
this is the daughter referred to, I cannot be sure.It is real plain for these people to have used the same names over and over
again in naming their children. I am sure they had everybody straight, at that
time that they lived, but it creates a real hardship on us modern generation
detectives....
