John Shiveley TEETER

Father of Daniel R. Teeter that wrote the letter to his niece in 1897.

In the letter from Daniel R. Teeter he had listed Rube, Will, Mag and Nancy no further information given on these children.  Information sent by Bonnie Pecora Boise, Idaho gives 12 children with complete information.Written documentation by Daniel Burger Teeter (1825-1904), a grandson of Abraham and a son of John Shively Teeter) in his letter dated 6 June 1897 to his niece, Elizabeth Teeter, daughter of Jacob Burger Teeter, living then in Illinois, contained the following reference: "Now as regards the great grand parents of myself and my brothers and sisters, I know
comparatively little about them except they were (according to my
understanding) natives of some part of Germany. And when I state what our
true name is you will no doubt be somewhat surprised. Our name originally
was Diederich, but that name was too long for the people or at least for
some of them- ich was left off and the name was shortened to Dieder by
which name we always were called in Pennsylvania when people were talking
dutch, then when talked english the same people called us Teeter.  Uncle
David's descendants write their name Deeter. My uncle Daniel wrote his
name Deeter." This name derivation is also attested to by another
descendant-see Daniel Wimmer Teeter General Note. CGT/Aug 1994.

Elizabeth Burger TEETER

Daniel R. says that Lizzie and Mag are both married, no other info.
Bonnie Pecora said that Elizabeth was never married.  I had the date of Feb for birthdate. LA

David BURGER

There are several Burger families of unproven connections, although there is undoubtedly a connection along the way somewhere.  Therefore, in order to preserve records to solve later I have added in these notes names which may
connect closely.

Hi All,  I've been research my ancestors on and off for 28 yrs. In that time I have had a few brick walls popup. This has been my brick wall!  All I have on this line is:  Daniel Burger b. 1794, Bedford Co., Pa  m. 1825/18 NOV 1830 , Bedford Co., Pa.  Nancy Stull (No further info)  s. Christina Burger b. 1842 (she married my g Grandmom's Father - Dad's side)

 I did some research on Nancy and this is all I found:  1790 Census No Twp., Bedford Co., Pa.  Adam Stull 1 0 2 ^(Series: M637 Roll: 9 Page: 248)  Jacob Stull 1 1 1 ^(Series: M637 Roll: 9 Page: 243)  Nicholas Stull 1 1 2 (on same page within 21 households)

(Series: M637 Roll: 9 Page: 243)  1800 Census HOPEWELL & WOODBER (towns or Twp.?), Bedford Co., Pa.( M || F - for the benefit of those who may not know)  George Stull 2 0 0 1 0 || 2 0 0 1 0 ^(Series: M32 Roll: 36 Page: 440)

Jacob Stull 3 2 0 1 0 || 2 0 0 1 0 ^(Series: M32 Roll: 36 Page: 435)  Nicholas Stull 3 0 0 1 0 || 2 1 0 0 1
(Series: M32 Roll: 36 Page: 436) (per Census record Nicholas and Jacob lived right next to each other - brothers?)

In 1810 Census Nicholas and Jacob are not listed in Bedford Co., Pa. BUT, in 1820 reappear in Woodbury Township.  Would appreciate any help with this line. Thanks for your time!  P.S. I did some further research and found some more info. I was browsing the Census'(1840, 1850, 1860, & 1870)and come across this info:  In 1860 alot of the BURGERS of this line where in Quincy Twp., Franklin Co. Pa. Since Nancy was married to a BURGER, I acted on a hunch and found her in the 1850 Census(Quincy Twp., Franklin Co. Pa.)with Brother In-law David BURGER with Christina! But, still no Daniel BURGER.

Acting on another hunch I browsed the 1840 Census(Quincy Twp., Franklin Co. Pa.)and found him and Nancy there. Three of the four siblings are in this record and dates match up with the 1850 Census record! When I did a search between 1860 and 1870 for Nancy, Daniel reappears!  What this gives us is a general age for Nancy she's 40 to 50 in 1840 Census record and 54 in 1850 record. Also in 1850 record she is born in Pa.

Daniel Burger TEETER

This is the Daniel R. Teeter that had written to his Niece, Lizzie, dau of his uncle Jacob B. Teeter.  His letter has been preserved and in it he tells of many of his cousins and aunts and Uncles.  He includes a little history and indicates where the families were living at different dates.  Very informative and interesting.
Bonnie Pecora did not have Maholon, and she does not list a daughter that
was married to one of the daughters listed could have married a Smith.
The R. has often been confused with B., from record sent was given name of B. for Burger as middle name.  The death date as submitted by others is a year later then what I have.

Emeline CLARK

Daniel R. Teeter states that his wife is feeling ill at the time and that
they could not travel to visit. June 20th, 1897.  D/o John Clark.Emiline Clark was the daughter of John and Barbara (Markle) Clark, among
the first settlers in Spring Creek Twp, Black Hawk Co., IA. See General
note for husband Daniel Burger Teeter for more information.

Following from newspaper clipping Waterloo paper: "Funeral services for
Mrs Emeline Teeter, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs R T
Glesssner, Cedar Heights, Monday, were held this morning at the Church of
the Brethren in Waterloo at 10:00 o'clock.  Rev A P Blough, pastor,
officiated and burial was made in Spring Creek Cemetery northeast of La
Porte City. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Glenn Teeter, Ray Teeter,
Frank Teeter and Joe Teeter, Hershel Glessner and Harry Oren. Emeline
Clark was born in Bedford County, PA, April 30, 1832, and was the daughter
of John and Barbara (Markel) Clark.  She was married to Daniel B Teeter in
1850 and then came west the next year to Jefferson County, Iowa.  They
located in Spring Creek Township in March 1853. They drove to Iowa from
Bedford County, PA, using a covered wagon and horses. At the time they
settled in Spring Creek Township there were but two neighbors within five
miles of them and the Indians were the terror of their lives.  They
experienced all the hardships of the pioneer settlers and carved their
home out of the wilderness.  Cont'd in (Buried) Note:>>>

These are my people, my Great Grandfathers buried in Dixon.  Adam Teeter 1842 - 1891.  He married Hattie.  Had 3 sons.  My grandfather Adam A. Jr., Frank L. and Lee.  They had no children.  Only my grandfather had one son,
