Historical Notes;

(1) Otto I, von Wittelsbach, Duke of Bavaria, he was the ancestor of the rulers
of Bavaria down to 1918.  He was an advocate of Weihenstefan; Pfalzgraf of
Bavaria, 1158; he was made Duke of Bavaria after the fall of Henry "the Lion"
in 1180;  He was a Crusader, he went with his father on the 2nd Crusade in
1147,  and in 1159 with the Emperor Frederick Barbarosa as Imperial Standard
Bearer; he fought in the Italian wars; Ambassador to Constantinople; he was
present in Venice at the peace between Barbarosa and the Pope, in 1177.
